Description
When Bryn’s loyalty to her own people is tested, the decision she makes will change the course of her life forever…
Truth be told, Bryn isn’t really sure where her loyalties lie. Of one thing she’s sure, though, is that her fraternal twin sister, Jolie, who also happens to be the Queen of the Underworld, should be her sworn enemy. But after spending months with Jolie, Bryn can’t deny the fact that she genuinely cares for her sister, much though she shouldn’t. If it weren’t maddening enough that her relationship with Jolie is anything but black and white, then there’s Sinjin.
Cool, calm and calculated, Sinjin Sinclair is everything Bryn imagines she should find reprehensible in a man. First of all, he’s a master vampire and all vampires, in Bryn’s mind, are nothing more than bloodsucking parasites. Secondly, his unflagging cockiness when paired with his boyish charm is enough to irritate any sensible woman. Mostly, though, it’s Sinjin’s unapologetic sexuality that Bryn finds extremely off-putting…and, well, somewhat entertaining and possibly even exhilarating...
After Bryn purposely botches her leader’s attack on Jolie, Bryn finds herself returned to her old life, a life she thought she’d wanted. But the old adage, “be careful what you wish for because you might get it,” will take on new meaning once she finds herself playing hostage to her own people.
Reviews
“Omg, I have been waiting for this book to come out and I was NOT disappointed! I love the banter between Sinjin and Bryn, I'm DYING for them to hook up already! The next book can’t get here soon enough!” ― Reviewer ★★★★★
“Although some of the events were difficult to read about, I felt they were handled with tact and were necessary to the story. Bryn's experiences with the Lurkers help the reader understand more about the culture and how shockingly brainwashed the tribe is. Something major would have had to happen for the reader to honestly believe Bryn could sever ties with the tribe and the author shows us that. Can't wait for the next one!” ― Reviewer ★★★★★ Also by HP Mallory

The Scent A Vampire Romance Series The Bryn and Sinjin Series Book 2 edition by HP Mallory Paranormal Romance eBooks
I'm sorry! I usually love H. P. Mallory's writing, but I cannot get past the, basically, gang rape and the unbelievable feelings of sexual desire that came afterwards. No woman that goes through that would be having sexual desires so soon afterwards, least of all, putting up with a very insensitive guy that keeps pressuring her to narrate this horrible experience, only to then propose to become her lover. Unbelievable! and not in a good way.I have to admit this book ruined a potentially fun series for me. I now hate Sinjin because he is clueless and insensitive, and cannot relate to Bryn at all. Another issue worth mentioning is the shortness of the book; I remember the Jolie Wilkins books and they used to be in fact books. But the Bryn series consists of short, incomplete, novellas. Very disappointing!

The Scent A Vampire Romance Series The Bryn and Sinjin Series Book 2 edition by HP Mallory Paranormal Romance eBooks Reviews
While I enjoyed the first book, Sinjin, this one left me .... Confused. I read other reviews of this book and found myself confused on the complaints regarding what happened to Bryn.
My biggest struggles with this book was the holes. Every time it felt like more plot was about to be exposed (other than the obvious of the fight between good and evil) it disappeared completely. There are hints where there could be layers but they are quickly ignored, glazed over, or obviously put to the side to encourage the purchase of the next novella (these are not long enough for me to consider a book).
I do love the series so far but it's not one I would recommend to others unless they were looking for a filler series o read in between some of the authors others.
I love Sinjin. A series around him would have been wonderful. I was dissapointed with the first book in to ways. First it was not about him as the title led us to believe and secondly, it was much shorted than I expected leading me to feel that the story was rushed. I was dissapointed and felt I didnt get all I wanted from his character. I waited anxiouly for the 2nd book. Wow, what a shoker to see an even shorter story, all around three weeks of something that I think most humans could not overcome and withing a couple of days being offered to overcome by Sinjins love making. REALLY? Not I dont think we should eventually see this, but our intelligent, very experienced, old and mature vampire would know that this is not the time. Very dissapointed with the shorteness, lack of story and characted development and unbelievable character behaviour.
I long awaited this book, with eager anticipation. The moment it was available I downloaded it to my kindle app.
I love the characters & the style of writing.
This book has many unexpected plot twists, shocks, a few revealing moments, & the making of an unlikely new friend along the way.
It is a fantastic book.
Even if it brought up a few memories of my own that could have happily been left in the past. (However, those issues were dealt with in a tasteful manner.)
I enjoyed this book & look forward to the next in the series.
The only real qualm I had was (for me) it was a very short read. Finished it in 3 hours.
But all in all, it was worth it.
I don't want to get all spoilery, but I think the last chapter makes Sinjin into, well, a tone-deaf idiot. It's not romantic. It's not helpful. It's just stupid. Maybe, if it didn't end where and how it did I might see it differently, but I honestly don't see how.
Not sure if I shall be continuing with HP Mallory's books. I don't feel I'm getting a full story in each one, but rather a few chapters of what should be a longer novel. It's like a pay-as-you-go toll book.
I read this for a book club, and I'm still mad at the person who chose it. The main character is unlikable, even though I wanted to feel sorry for her. She's a petulant brat. The author uses the ol' "you're physically aroused, and therefore I don't believe that you don't want to have sex with me" trope. She forgets that words mean things and just smashed together phrases that I guess she thought sounded nice. I resented this book and everyone in it.
I loved the Jolie Series, and was looking forward to reading the Sinjin series, but in reality it is a short incomplete story (in fact both book 1 and book 2) left me feeling lacking. I wished they would have been as good as the Jolie series. I wanted to like these, but honestly I can't recommend them.. they leave you longing for more, than they do in satisfying your desire for the story to continue. I agree with the rest of the reviewers, you don't let a woman get ganged raped and then pretend a day or so later she has sexual stirrings for a man.. It takes much longer to get over something like that! Let alone when that is your first sexual experience! I was very disappointed in this series. I know that the author has it in her to write a better story than this. I hope she continues the Jolie series with the same integrity that those books were written in. The Jolie series is the first series I've bought all the books to, and now I will shy away from any of her other books for fear they will be written in the same fashion as the Sinjin series was. (
First of all, this is hardly a book. It's a novella. It should have just been combined with the first short book of the series to make one book. I hope of of my favorite authors hasn't gotten greedy on us.
Of course, I am happy at the continuation of the story. Sadly, it ends there. The 3 weeks of gang rape on the story narrator hardly fits with the tone of the Jolie Wilkins novels or the first book in this series. Also, the absolutely atrocious way the author deals with the aftermath of her 3 weeks of gang rape is appalling. Within a couple days of her escaping, she is forced to tell her previous romantic interest all the gory details in a dive bar bathroom. Then he offers to make it better, by showing her the right way to make love, even though he can not love her.
I'm shocked & disappointed that such awful writing has come from a female author, an author, who up until now, has been a great writer. I only hope she does better by rape victims in the future, or not write about a subject, that she obviously has no understanding of.
